Five Quick, Yummy Snacks!
It’s so important not to let preparing your meals completely consume your life. If you dread spending hours on it, you’re not going to do it, and then you end up making bad food choices. Today, I’m bringing you five simple, healthy snacks that are cheap and easy to make!
1. Seasoned Popcorn
2 teaspoons avocado oil
1/4 cup of popcorn
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cayenne powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon nutritional yeast
Heat the oil in a pot with a lid. Add the popcorn and salt. Swirl to mix, cover, and cook for 5 to 7 minutes on medium-low heat.
Add the cayenne, turmeric powder, and nutritional yeast. Toss to coat evenly.
Garnish with lime and enjoy with lime juice squeezed on top!
Popcorn is rich in fiber and protein. It’s also super filling and low in calories, so it’s great for a snack if you’re hungry but watching your weight. Just keep an eye on the toppings!
2. Fruit and Veggie Strips
cayenne to taste (optional)
salt to taste (optional)
Cut the cucumber, jicama, carrots, and mango into thin strips. Arrange the strips upright in a mason jar.
Squeeze lime juice over the fruits and veggies, then sprinkle with cayenne or salt, depending on your preference.
This snack is super easy to prep in advance and keep in the fridge! Don’t feel limited, either. You can use almost any fruits and veggies you have on hand or like to eat.
3. Apple Peanut Butter Sandwiches
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 tablespoon raw oats
1 tablespoon goji berries
Slice the apple into six round slices, removing the seeds if you want.
Spread four of the apple slices with peanut butter. Sprinkle with oats and goji berries.
Stack two of the topped apple slices, and place a plain one on top. Repeat to form two stacks of three apple slices.
In this one simple snack, you’re getting fruits, whole grains, healthy fats, AND protein!
4. Choco-Banana Strawberry Sandwiches
1/2 cup strawberries
1 tablespoon cacao powder
2 tablespoon maple syrup
1 teaspoon shredded coconut
Thinly slice the strawberries into rounds. Cut the banana into matching strips.
Mix together the cacao powder and maple syrup to form a delicious chocolate dip or spread!
On a plate, lay down a strawberry slice. Top it with a banana slice. Add a small dollop of chocolate dip. On top of that, put another banana slice. Finish the stack with another strawberry slice. Repeat until you’ve turned all of your fruit slices into sandwiches! This should make about eight stacks.
Sprinkle the fruit stacks with coconut, and enjoy!
Cacao is rich in antioxidants and magnesium, and helps curb your appetite. These beautiful little sandwiches can also satisfy cravings for sweet treats!
5. Avocado Tostadas
2 corn tortillas
Thoroughly toast the tortillas in a pan.
Meanwhile, mash the avocado with salt to taste.
When the tortillas are hot and crispy, spread the mashed avocado over them. It’s that simple!
Avocado is great for your skin and hair, and it’s rich in water, fiber, minerals, and healthy fat!
